Kivanc Pakel, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of FourQ, is a leader in digital transformation of operations across enterprises and a pioneer in using big data to drive decisions. He partners with global CEOs and CFOs to purposefully deploy technology that innovates business processes. Kivanc translates strategy to operations by making complexity understandable and converting ideas into action. As one client said, “We always felt this information was bigger than we thought, but never saw it as transparently as you’ve shown us.”
Kivanc choreographs the trifecta of technology, operations, and finance. His skill in using digital strategies and tools delivers lower costs and increased productivity through improved workflow and enhanced analytics. Kivanc is experienced in heading finance for global teams, managing billions of dollars across more than 100 countries. He’s overseen a range of finance functions, such as financial planning and analysis, treasury, controllership, core P&L, AR, AP, cash collection, contracts, and risk management. His broad portfolio allows him to walk in the clients’ shoes at all levels, living and breathing their challenges and opportunities. Kivanc holds Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
From his earliest days growing up in Turkey and Istanbul, Kivanc played basketball, at one point considering it as a career. The sport made a huge impact on how he views work and life: strategy is meaningless without top-notch execution, the team matters the most, continuous practice for improvement is critical, and you can never underestimate the importance of resilience.
Kivanc earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Finance from Dokuz Eylul Universitesi, the first school to apply the problem-based learning method in Turkey. He continued his education in Business and Managerial Economics at the GE Executive Finance Leadership Program, in Innovative Change at UC Berkeley’s Executive Education Program, and in Corporate Performance at Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program.
He is a big fan of Guy Raz’s How I Built This, and Simon Sinek’s Leaders Eat Last, and is a devotee of the authors’ podcasts. When he can spare time to travel, Kivanc enjoys spending time with his family throughout the Mediterranean Sea region, particularly the Aegean islands.
